The chosen genre i have chosen to analyse is Lifestyle. The two magazines i have chosen for this particuluar subject is 'Take a break' and 'Fabulous'.
Take a break is a magazine which mainly looks into real life stories (discusses and shares information about the audience.)
Fabulous is a magazine which holds lifestyle and celebrity gossip. As it saids on the front cover 'Britains biggestly weekly glossy.'
Ive chosen these two magazines because they both hold lifestyle inside them and that is what i plan to analyse.
Take a break;
The language used on this double page article would have to be formal. The language is completley different to the language used in pop magazines.
The articles it holds are serious. Theres the audience posting in there problems and trying to recieve good advice.
Demographics -
Age range: This magazine would be directed to the older generation. Ranging from mid thirtys to fortys.
Gender: Female. The reason for this because of the colours used (mainly pinks) and the stories it holds.
Class: Middle classed. The reason for this is because its a cheap magazine which is discussing and giving out advice to the audience.
Nationality: British.
Main Sells:
- 'Here our agony Aunt Katie gets her buddies to advise the famous. This week: Victoria Beckham.' In this article, they have used a celebrity who is giving the advice to the person who has written into the company.
- 'My mum is an alcoholic.' Written from a member of the audience who have a problem and need advice.
- 'I want to heal this family rift.' Written from a member of the audience who have a problem and need advice.
- 'Is it time for divorce?' Written from a member of the audience who have a problem and need advice.
Fabulous.
The language used on this page would be informal i reckon. This is because of the headline etc. 'Whats your BFF?' Cutting down the words to form some of them into slang.
The article would be quite serious as it is basically advertising different perfume products. Which makes it appeal more to the audience and gives them the urge to go and buy these perfumes is by including celebrities who use this perfumes.
Demographics -
Age range: Older generation. Mid thirtys to fortys.
Gender: Female: Because its advertising feminine perfumes, holds pictures of female celebrities, and the colours are mainly red and white.
Class: Middle Classed. The magazine comes free in the News of the world magazine.
Nationality: British.
Main sells -
- 'Whats your BFF?' Making clear to the audience that they are talking about perfume. They are advertising these products, and claiming that the perfume is infact a best friend forever.
- 'Do you want powerful, sexy or sweet?' This appealing to the audience, as females would love to categorize themselves under one of these labels and if the smell of perfume helped them along the way of achieving this category then they will definatley buy it.
- 'Find more great beauty tips at fabulousmag.co.uk ', advertising there website.
